What can you use the app for?

TheStyleCure is a social shopping application that allows users to share their retail experience with friends through Facebook. Users can check out item streams that reveal which garments and accessories their friends liked. Shopping related discussions can also be held through Facebook so the user can ask for opinions before making a purchase. TheStyleCure includes a suggestions feature that allows users to give and receive clothing suggestions from the people on their Facebook contact list. Users can design their own outfits and share them with others. The application covers clothing, shoes, swimwear and more for women, men and kids. Maternity clothing as well as outerwear, jackets and undergarments are also included in TheStyleCure category list. Users can refine their search results by store, brand, price, color and whether or not it is on sale. Each item is displayed with an image, brand name, store name and price.

What is the history and popularity of the app?

TheStyleCure was created around the real life mall experience. The mall tends to be a social place where people shop, chat and interact. The online marketplace does not always include the social element found when shopping in a mall. TheStyleCure was designed to reclaim the social element by turning the internet into a large shopping mall. The application currently lists more than one million products and over 7,000 brands.

What are the differences to other apps?

TheStyleCure is much like a retail website, with a social twist. Users can share suggestions, tips and design their own outfits with the help of others on their Facebook contact list. By adding a social layer to the shopping experience, TheStyleCure has made online shopping almost as fun and interactive as visiting an actual shopping mall.

How does the web app look and feel to use?

TheStyleCure uses a very simple design that gets right to the point by presenting new visitors with a long list of garments and accessories (which continue to grow as the user scrolls down the page). A collection of categories is positioned down the left hand side so the user can refine their search. The website works much like many other retail sites, giving it an almost familiar feel while browsing.

How does the registration process work?

Visitors can explore products on TheStyleCure without logging in. However an account is required to access all of the social features on TheStyleCure. The application works exclusively through Facebook, so it is really not a big surprise that users must log in with an existing Facebook account. This can be done by clicking the blue and white “Log In” button found in the upper, left hand corner of the homepage. A pop up box will appear asking the user to log in to Facebook and allow access to their account information.

What does it cost to use the application?

There is no fee for using TheStyleCure. All users are given the same level of access and can shop as often as they like with their friends on Facebook. Of course that is not to say that no money is spent when using TheStyleCure. The application is all about shopping, so it is left up to the user to decide how much or little to spend.

Who would you recommend the application to?

TheStyleCure.com is interesting for anyone who loves the mall shopping experience. Users can discuss products before they buy them with the people they know. The application is ideal for shoppers who also have Facebook accounts, since this is a requirement to log in.
